A lot of the runs are now filled in and helped make the July 9 Independence holiday day that much more enjoyable for skiers and snowboarders.

ARGENTINA - Cerro Castor, the southernmost ski resort in the world, opened June 17 with great snow conditions, tons of media, and lots of grateful fathers enjoying a great Father's Day skiing. The resort opened with four new trails for a total of 24.5 kms skiable surface area, and two new chairlifts for a total of seven chairlifts.

ARGENTINA -- Las Lenas continued to deliver the goods the week after their great opening weekend June 13-14. The resort received more snow last Wednesday (June 18) on top of snow all the way to the base and the best conditions in South America. The storm was intense for two days.

Sydney, Australia. – Chile and Argentina will be the first of the Southern Hemisphere ski-resort regions to be hit with a cold front, although Australia or New Zealand won't be far behind as the new upside-down ski season goes into full swing this week. That's the 2008 snowfall prediction from Dr. Jeff Masters, Director of Meteorology at The Weather Underground.
